Bechtel Praises Completion of First Step toward Building Vital National Security Facility
Bechtel leaders joined U.S. government officials to mark completion of site readiness work at a key National Nuclear Security Administration site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee — the first step toward the start of construction on the nation’s new facility to safely and securely process uranium for nuclear defense, naval propulsion, and other applications. The Uranium Processing Facility Site Readiness Project was completed on time, $20 million under budget, and surpassed 600 days without a recordable accident or injury.

Loading of a BG Group LNG vessel is underway at the Queensland Curtis LNG plant, one of three projects Bechtel is simultaneously building on Curtis Island on the east coast of Australia.

Bechtel Completes Extraordinary Module Program for Curtis Island LNG Projects
Bechtel announced that all 260 modules comprising the three liquefied natural gas plants the company is building on Curtis Island are now on site, a significant milestone in their construction. The final module was delivered to the Australia Pacific LNG project this week. The modules, prefabricated steel structures that house the production units, were built by Bechtel in Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines then shipped to Australia.

Bechtel Completes Second Combined-Cycle Plant for Panda Power Funds
Bechtel announced that the company has completed the Panda Sherman Power project in Sherman, Texas, two weeks ahead of schedule. The 758-megawatt natural gas-fueled combined-cycle power facility is owned by Panda Power Funds and boasts advanced emissions control technology that makes it one of the cleanest plants in the nation. The commissioning of Panda Sherman follows the early completion of Panda Power Temple I, an identical plant that Bechtel built in Temple, Texas.

Bechtel-led Project Recognized for Engineering and Construction Excellence
Bechtel announced that the project team at the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant has received the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ 2014 Engineering and Construction Award, one of the organization’s most prestigious honors. Bechtel, along with URS, Battelle Memorial Institute, and General Physics, is designing, building, and starting up the facility that will safely destroy a stockpile of chemical weapons currently in storage at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot in Colorado.
