Queensland recognition for the Curtis Island LNG team

Bechtel’s Maurissa Douglas Rogers and Adrienne Keyes claimed two trophies at the Australian National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Queensland awards, September 4.

Maurissa received the Award for Achievement in Construction for her instrumental leadership role on the Queensland Curtis LNG project on Curtis Island, near Gladstone. Maurissa has worked on the project since the early design phase in Houston before relocating to Gladstone as part of the leadership team during the construction phase.

Adrienne received the Award for Achievement in Health & Safety and / or Environment. Adrienne established the medical services program on the GLNG Plant Project, ensuring the highest quality health practices and programs were established to service the needs of the workforce living in the temporary accommodation facilities on Curtis Island and the employees working on the LNG construction site.

"These awards are a testament to Bechtel women achieving extraordinary results across our projects in Gladstone and around the world,” said Alasdair Cathcart, Bechtel‘s global LNG general manager. “The knowledge, experience, leadership and commitment that our female colleagues have brought to our projects in Australia have been instrumental in the progress we’ve made for our customers. We are proud of Maurissa, Adrienne and our other finalists for their achievements in the construction industry."

Adrienne, Maurissa, Grace Duckham and Kristin Meikle were finalists across five categories at the state awards. NAWIC is an international not-for-profit organization with a mission to improve the construction industry by promoting the advancement of women within it. Its key objective is to encourage women of all ages to pursue and establish careers within the construction industry.

Bechtel also received two awards in 2014 with the Women@Bechtel Gladstone Chapter taking out the Crystal Vision Award for Advancing and Furthering the Interests of Women in the Construction Industry and Mellissa Case winning the Seymour Whyte Award for Achievement in Marketing, Community Engagement and Communications Excellence.

Bechtel is building all three LNG plants on Curtis Island, launching the LNG industry in Queensland. Bechtel is also the principal downstream contractor for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project in Western Australia. Globally, Bechtel is building more than a third of the world’s LNG liquefaction capacity currently under construction.
