Project Achieves "First Sync" Milestone

The Unit 1 station of the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating Station was synced to the power grid for the first time, representing a major milestone for the project. Located in California’s Mojave Desert, Ivanpah is the world’s largest solar thermal plant, spanning 3,500 acres of public land. Once commercially operational, the 377 megawatt (net) plant will generate enough electricity to power 140,000 homes annually.
