Bechtel National, Inc. to Provide Information on Subcontracting and Purchasing for Iraq

San Francisco, CA - May 16, 2003 Beginning the week of May 19, contractors and suppliers will be able to learn about Bechtel National, Inc.’s subcontracting and purchasing tendering processes and requirements for its work on the USAID Iraq Infrastructure Reconstruction Program. The company will provide this information on this Web site, and at regional conferences in Washington, D.C., on May 21, London on May 23, and Kuwait City on May 28.

This information will focus on the contracting procedures to be implemented, not specific work being released. Topics will include insurance requirements, performance securities, collecting expressions of interest, determining bid lists for specific programs and job orders, and tendering and tender evaluations.

It is not necessary to attend any of the conferences to receive information about the contracting process, nor is attendance at a conference intended to confer any competitive advantage. This Web site will post the information provided at the conferences, as well as questions asked along with the responses.

Seating at each venue is limited and will not be reserved. There is no registration for these conferences, and all are without charge and open to the international contracting community.

Bechtel National is the government contracting arm of the San Francisco–based Bechtel group of companies, which has earned an unparalleled reputation for managing some of the world’s largest, most complex, and hazardous projects.
