Intergen Completes Financing On $922 Million Millmerran Power Project In Australia

August 12, 1999 InterGen. the international power generation and related energy infrastructure company jointly owned by Shell Generating Limited and Bechtel Enterprises Holdings, Inc., announced that it has completed the debt financing for the Millmerran Power Project, an 840 megawatt coal-fired power plant and 3.6 million tons per year coal mine located near the town of Millmerran in the state of Queensland, Australia. Total project cost is estimated to be approximately $922 million (AUD$1.43 billion), making Millmerran one of the largest greenfield power project financings in Australia, and globally the largest fully merchant greenfield power plant to be financed on a non-recourse project finance basis.
