The Engineering building at my university was named for Stephen Bechtel Jr., who donated the money to build it. I didn’t know much about the company, but I researched it when Bechtel representatives came to recruit graduates.
Currently I am working on the performance management in the closeout phase of the West Coast Route Modernisation programme in London. In addition, I am contributing to the development of the contractual documents for the new Crossrail and Reading rail programmes.
My job allows me to see how Bechtel aligns the interests of the project, customers, and employees while meeting the company objectives. I’ve also learned how to be flexible and support more than one assignment at a time. As a graduate, continuous exposure to senior mangers is very important, and gave me the opportunity to develop my management and leadership skills.
In the future, I want to gain technical and management experience while working on signature projects. I’d also like to learn about different countries and cultures.
