Bachelor’s in Science, Washington State University;
Field Engineer

Karina L.

I first learned about Bechtel through my high school’s career information program. My interest in the company led to summer internships, and I joined Bechtel full-time in May 2005 as a college hire.

I am currently assigned to the Hanford Vitrification Plant project in Washington state. In my position as a field engineer, I make sure that walls, rebar, and embedments meet design specifications.

Working on a big, complex project is both interesting and challenging. Aspects of the job I enjoy the most include working outdoors and interfacing with the craft workers who are building the plant. One of Bechtel’s biggest projects, it will vitrify hazardous waste at the former Hanford nuclear site into glass for permanent storage.

It’s been easy for me to see why Bechtel is one of the world’s leading engineering and construction companies, and I would like to hone my skills and contribute to that leadership.
