Bechtel representatives came to a job fair at my university. I submitted my CV with a cover letter and had two interviews in Beirut before I was invited to attend an assessment center in London in June 2006. Three weeks later I was contacted and offered a position as part of the international graduate program.
Since last September, I have been working on the renovation of St. Pancras Station in London, which is part of the High Speed 1 rail project that will link London to Paris and Brussels via the Channel Tunnel.
As a field engineer, I monitor installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This includes providing management with information necessary for making decisions, and helping our contractor safely meet critical construction milestones.
The amount of responsibility that Bechtel gives new hires is really amazing. I sometimes forget that I am a graduate engineer because of the importance of the tasks I constantly deal with.
With Bechtel, I will have the opportunity to travel overseas and work on projects that are shaping our world.
