A Bright Spot in a Dark Place
A world-class carbon anode production facility is under construction in the shadow of the Arctic Circle.

You could say things are looking pretty dark in Mosjøen, Norway, but that’s no reflection on an advanced carbon anode manufacturing plant that Bechtel is designing and building there.
Transformation of Oak Ridge
A facility in Tennessee that helped usher in the nuclear age looks forward to a new future.
One could say that the fate of the modern world was decided at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. There, in 1943, scientists working on the secret Manhattan Project produced the world’s first enriched uranium. The breakthrough led to the atomic bombs that ended World War II.
Turning the Corner
An ambitious modernization project has brought high-speed tilting trains to the UK's busiest rail line.
The West Coast Main Line is one of the grandest achievements of the Industrial Age. When it was built in the 1830s to link London with Birmingham, then the “workshop of the world,” it was the only long distance railway on Earth. It evolved into the busiest mixed-use rail corridor in the UK, a bustling passenger and commercial line connecting London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and dozens of cities in between.
A New Reality
Bechtel's virtual reality team enables customers to visit complex projects before they're built.
On a big Mideast airport project, the customer got to tour the passenger terminal before it was built. In the UK, computerized simulations help determine where to place interactive train signaling on a busy rail line. At the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, engineers designed a permanent shell for the failed reactor without having to get near it.
