Public-Private Partnerships

Partners for Success

Bechtel has a dedicated business line to serve customers who procure large projects using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP/P3) model. This combines our extensive design-build expertise, with our long history as an equity partner and developer. We are committed to being a private partner for public benefit – delivering the best value for our customers, and their customers.

Through the PPP model, a focused and experienced consortium is formed that is jointly responsible for delivering all elements of the project. This enables certain risks to be transferred from the government to the private sector and can create efficiencies around capital, financing and operating and maintenance costs.

Featured project

Edmonton Valley Line Light Rail Project (Phase 1), Alberta, Canada

The Valley Line is a vital part of the City of Edmonton’s transportation plan. It will help cater for the demands of Canada’s second fastest-growing city, which is expected to increase in size by 50 per cent by 2040.

This project will be delivered using the Public-Private Partnership (P3) model. Bechtel is the lead partner for the design and construction of the project, helped to secure financing for the project and will assist in the provision of the operations and maintenance.
