EMEA Graduate Programmes

Inside our Graduate Programmes

We offer excellent rewards and development opportunities to all our graduates. Learn more about them here, along with what we’ll expect from you.

Your Development

No matter which graduate programme you join, you’ll receive the same or similar training. Our dedicated Learning and Development team runs annual training sessions, which take place every September and start the moment you join.

As a new joiner, you’ll benefit from team skills training, which will explore team dynamics and their role in a project team environment. This will provide you with tangible skills you can use on any project.

The second-year training builds on what you learned in the first year, and looks at how different team roles work. You’ll also fill out various questionnaires to help you discover the best role for you within a project environment.

As you progress through the programme, your training does too. During your third year, we’ll give you leadership skills training, and you can test these our on your project as your responsibilities increase.

Other development opportunities you’ll enjoy include:

  • Technical training – organised by your function
  • Lunch and learns – organised by your function or our employee resource group, NextGen
  • Bechtel University (BU) – includes online, virtual and classroom-based learning
  • Career development Mentor - they’ll offer general support and ensure you’re on track to achieve Chartered status and help guide you in your early career at Bechtel.

Employee Resource Groups

The benefits of joining us go far beyond the rewards just listed. In fact, one of the best things about working at Bechtel is getting to connect with so many talented people. And one of the best ways to do this is through our employee resource groups.

Here’s a quick look at three of them:

  1. Stewardship Programme: This is a global employee resource group that has local chapters. In the UK, for example, employees can take part in initiatives such as the First Lego League, Young Enterprise and other charity events that help support young students.
  2. Women @ Bechtel: We know that diversity is essential to building a strong company. So we run events that help people become more aware of the opportunities available to women within our business. This includes making senior managers accessible to staff through speed networking and other events. What’s more, we also run activities in the community to help inspire the next generation of female engineers.
  3. NextGen: Our NextGen group has been designed to help graduates develop and grow within the organisation. We also want to enable you to create your own professional networks and to gain knowledge in different areas. How does NextGen do this? By organising various events, from Continued Professional Development talks with project directors, networking with senior managers, sporting activities, social events and the annual development meeting.

Rewards

Along with comprehensive training you’ll enjoy a competitive salary and numerous benefits, including:

  • Pension plan
  • Private medical insurance – offered to all employees
  • Life and accident insurance
  • Interest free Season Ticket loans
  • Flexible working (depending on project / office)
