Testing the Power of Networks

Bechtel Telecommunications customers now have two powerful facilities at their disposal: the Bechtel Wireless Test Bed (BWTB) at the Idaho National Laboratory, and the Bechtel Training, Demonstration and Research (TDR) Lab in Frederick, Maryland. These two facilities can work independently or in tandem, helping customers test the functionality and capabilities of their network technologies.

The BWTB has four cell sites at its disposal, with equipment and performance configured and controlled though an on-site network operation center. Equipment vendors have the option of running test from BWTB, from the TDR lab, or from their own sites.

These facilities can be configured in many ways as Bechtel and its customers test and develop new types of wired and wireless networks. These include the 3G wireless protocols that Bechtel has helped deploy across the United States, as well as emerging technologies such as WiMAX and next-generation optical networks.
