Bechtel’s female engineers participate in DiscoverE’s Global Marathon
Five Bechtel women engineers supported DiscoverE’s Global Marathon For, By and About Women in Engineering & Technology. Global Marathon was held March 8-10, and the theme for the 2016 event was Engineers Make a World of Difference.
The Global Marathon reached across six continents and featured speakers from more than a dozen organizations, including 3M, DuPont, ExxonMobil, IBM, Motorola Solutions, and Engineers Without Borders-USA. Bechtel’s speakers supported the following sessions and topics:
Day 1: Making Progress and Raising Expectations

Day 2: What You Need to Know to Get Hired, Thrive and Advance
Day 3: Empowering Communities, Expanding Professional Opportunities

- Giana Morini, Bechtel senior structural engineer
“The Global Marathon was an excellent vehicle for showcasing the opportunities available to women in the engineering and technology professions,” said Charlene Wheeless, head of Global Corporate Affairs at Bechtel. “Bechtel colleagues, both men and women from around the world, dialed-in to hear our speakers discuss topics that included professional development tips for the millennial generation and how colleagues can use their engineering skills to improve the quality of life worldwide.
