David Welch is President, International and Government Affairs. He was elected Senior Vice President in 2010.
Ambassador Welch is a former American diplomat who served as Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs in the U.S. Department of State from 2005 through 2008, Ambassador to Egypt 2001–2005, and Assistant Secretary for International Organizations 1998–2001.
Ambassador Welch also served in Pakistan, Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, and on the staff of the National Security Council at the White House. He has extensive negotiating experience with Israeli-Palestinian talks, conflicts in Lebanon and Iraq, and terrorism claims in Libya.
Ambassador Welch is a board member of the U.S.-Saudi Business Council, the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council, and the U.S.-Egypt Business Council. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Academy of Diplomacy.
He is a graduate of Georgetown University and the Fletcher School at Tufts University. He also attended the London School of Economics.
