Regional Manager, Europe, Africa & Middle East
As Regional Manager, EAM, Amjad Bangash is responsible for the business development, project execution, and profit and loss for all market sector work in the regions.
Amjad joined Bechtel in 1992 as a senior engineer at the San Francisco head office, and soon after moved to project assignments in construction and engineering in the United States, Nigeria, Thailand, and Guyana. In 1995, he moved to an engineering management assignment, leading the design and some of the build contracts on the KCRC West Rail Project in Hong Kong. His successes there led to construction and project management positions at the Bechtel led design-build Airport MAX Light Rail Project in Portland, Oregon.
In 2008, Amjad took on the challenging assignment as Project Director at the Khalifa Port and Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) in the United Arab Emirates, both of which successfully opened on time and below budget. In 2012 and 2013 Amjad held the position of Managing Director, Rail, for Bechtel’s civil global business unit, where he was responsible for overseeing the overall performance and resourcing of worldwide rail and transit projects.
Before this, he worked for Tube Lines, in charge of the permanent way renewals and station modernization program for the major upgrade of the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines. There he established new records for track installation during weekend engineering slots. Amjad also established Bechtel’s first Center of Civil Engineering Excellence in Dubai.
Prior to becoming Regional Manager, EAM, Amjad was Project Director for the US $10.1 billion Package 1 of the Riyadh Metro Project in Saudi Arabia to construct the first two of six rail-guided metro lines that will form the backbone of Riyadh’s public transportation network.
Amjad has a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering, and a Masters and Doctorate in Civil Engineering from Washington State University.
