Signature Programs

The partnerships with five leading international nonprofit organizations give Bechtel colleagues a range of exciting opportunities to apply their talents and direct their passions for the good of communities in which they work and live. They give Bechtel an additional means to enhance the positive impact that the company can have on society. 

As a company and as individuals, Bechtel wants to excel at doing good work in their communities, which helps them and, in return, gives the men and women of Bechtel personal and professional satisfaction.

We have committed to help five global organizations promote education, especially in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects, and improve the quality of life for people through employees’ engineering, construction, and management skills:

• Engineers Week (EWeek) brings together all parts of the engineering profession to create hands-on opportunities that show young people the excitement and positive impact of careers in engineering.
• Engineers Without Borders works with nonprofits and disadvantaged communities in nearly 50 countries to implement simple, sustainable engineering projects.
• FIRST Robotics engages precollege students in mentor-based programs to build science, technology, engineering, math, and leadership skills. Student teams build robots, which execute predetermined tasks, in a variety of competitions around the world.
• Junior Achievement uses experiential, hands-on programs that include classroom visits by employee volunteers to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy.
• Ocean Exploration Trust uses the excitement of expeditions to different parts of the world to showcase the natural environment, human history, and the science, technology, engineering, and math professionals who make these voyages of discovery possible.

Our involvement with the Signature Programs builds a better Bechtel by tapping the passion of our people. By partnering with Signature Programs nonprofits, we promote new learning opportunities for students and support communities with needed infrastructure and demonstrate that we are committed to a better quality of life.
