I first heard about Bechtel through career fairs while I was at Texas A&M. I was impressed by the magnitude and range of the projects that the company has undertaken.
I joined Bechtel in August 2005 and began my career in the Houston office, working on several projects for the Oil, Gas & Chemicals business unit. I recently relocated to the United Arab Emirates, where I am helping with the customer handover of the compressors at the AGD-II gas development project near Abu Dhabi.
As a rotating equipment engineer, I evaluate and select mechanical engineering techniques that are incorporated into the design of compressors and other turbo-machinery.
The thing I like most about Bechtel is its size and diversity. I work with colleagues from other countries and other professional disciplines, and my job keeps me in constant contact with machinery suppliers and inspectors. This broad experience has enhanced my communications skill and given me a good overview of what’s involved to run a large project. My long-term goal is to advance into engineering management at Bechtel.
