I am halfway through my internship in Chile this summer (well, winter, I guess). I mainly work on the Andina Phase I project, which is about two hours northeast of Santiago. Because of its proximity to Santiago, I have had a chance to do some work in the Bechtel office as well. Things have been fantastic! I don’t know how else to put it. I love the job, I love the people, and I love the company. Bechtel has truly staffed some of the industry's best professionals. They are more than helpful with showing me the ropes and developing my work skills. I have an ocean of resources to delve into for information, ranging from constructability to engineering to money management, and that doesn’t even include the highly intelligible minds I can freely pick from every day. I’ve coined the word “sponging” to describe my daily absorption of information. I love every minute of it!
Thankful is not the best word to describe my feelings for having the opportunity to have this experience. I have learned far more than I would have expected, and I’m only halfway through. Bechtel is now at the forefront of my career vision, and I hope to leave a good impression with Bechtel when my time concludes. I’ve already spread the word to my ASU friends about my feelings, and they are excited to learn more about what Bechtel has to offer.
