I was first contacted by a Bechtel recruiter who viewed my resume on a CD compiled with Virginia Tech engineering students’ resumes. I spoke with the recruiter in person at a career fair; two weeks later flew to Frederick, Maryland, for an interview, and was hired June 1, 2006.
In my current position I provide environmental, safety, and health support services to domestic power projects. Although based in Frederick, I travel to projects around the United States to provide safety training and conduct job site assessments. One of the fascinating aspects of my position is the opportunity to work with people at various levels of the company. I have had the opportunity to train craft workers as well as pitch corporate initiatives to upper level management.
In the near future I would like to spend more time conducting job site training and site assessments. In the long term I would like to increase my knowledge of the industry and the company by working in other departments and business lines.
