Bechtel purchased the Lube Base Oil Manufacturing Process technologies and the associated licensing business from Texaco Development Corporation in 1996. This included all the patents, intellectual property, licenses, contracts, and lube pilot units, as well as access to their technical specialists.

The philosophy of technology innovation and improvement proven in Texaco-owned plants and licensed facilities during the last 60 years is carried on by BHTS as the number of licensed lube facilities worldwide grows.
