Bechtel employees in Frederick, MD, collected more than $10,000 in food and money to benefit the Frederick Rescue Mission during the 3rd annual Can-struction competition.
The employees held a food drive, and then used the items to build spectacular structures. Teams built replicas of Earth, the Great Pyramids in Egypt, the Roman Coliseum, Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating Station in California, and even an iPod.
Chief engineers judged the structures based on several criteria including safety, creativity, degree of difficulty, and aesthetics. The replica of the Ivanpah project was declared the winner.
Following the competition, the food and a check were donated to the Frederick Rescue Mission, which works with the needy in Frederick, MD.
