News-Record has named Tim
Horst, president
of Becon Construction, a Bechtel subsidiary, one
of its Top 25 Newsmakers of 2007 . ENR recognized Horst for his work on
the Gulf Coast Workforce Development Initiative (GCWDI) and its “I’m GREAT”
campaign. GCWDI was established to recruit and train construction craft workers
for the U.S. Gulf Coast region, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Horst
has been program manager for the training of nearly 16,000 people so far through the
“I’m GREAT” campaign.
Bechtel
joined other companies, community colleges, labor organizations, and government
agencies to support the GCWDI effort. Read
