Bechtel Joint Venture Lands Georgia Highway Project

ATLANTA, May 18, 2006 – Georgia Transportation Partners, a joint venture including Bechtel, has been awarded a $38.5 million contract to provide development services and preliminary design for the expansion of two interstate highways northwest of Atlanta. The project incorporates new congestion-priced toll lanes, a bus rapid transit system, and truck-only lanes. It is the state’s first-ever contract for a public-private transportation project and is expected to lead to a $1 billion to $2 billion design-build contract. More.
