Big Dig Carves Out Big Economic Impact

February 17, 2006

The Big Dig, or Central Artery/Tunnel project has cut the average trip through downtown Boston from 19.5 minutes to 2.8 minutes and will generate $7 billion in private investment and create tens of thousands of jobs, according to a Boston consulting firm.  The joint venture of Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff served as management consultant on the $14.6 billion megaproject, which is now fully open to highway traffic.

The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority commissioned the study by the Economic Development Research Group, Inc.
