- Safety is big news at Bechtel’s multinationally staffed Saudi Arabia projects. The Riyadh Airport project team has completed 11.1 million job hours without a lost-time accident, while the international project teams at the Shoaiba and Ghazlan II power plants have completed more than 6.7 million job hours and 4.2 million job hours, respectively, without a lost-time accident.
- Savannah River Site construction forces recently hit a significant safety milestone: 7.5 million job hours without a lost-time accident. At any given time, Bechtel is working at about 80 different sites at the 821-square-kilometer complex, which it manages for the U.S. Department of Energy. The company’s work ranges from heavy construction to environmental cleanup
- Bechtel affiliate Bantrel Inc. has completed 6.1 million accident-free job hours at the Athabasca Oil Sands Downstream project. This exceeds the previous benchmark in Alberta for plant construction and sets a new provincial safety standard. Bantrel, through a project alliance, is constructing the grassroots upgrader in Alberta for Shell Canada Ltd., Chevron Canada Resources Ltd., and Western Oil Sands Inc.
- Bechtel’s project team designing and building facilities for the storage of fissile material removed from Russian nuclear weapons has completed 4.2 million job hours without a lost-time accident. Bechtel is working at 13 sites across the country.
